Friend of the site and former student Juliana Broste is holding a seminar next Sunday March 19th in Denver for those who want to learn how to document their adventures on camera! Her seminar will be at the first ever Travel + Adventure show in Denver and Jules is a great person to learn from.

Juliana Broste is proof that with the right training you can not only launch your own video business but also be a big success. Juliana took one of our 4-day Video Producer boot-camps in Colorado and started making travel videos. Now she has her own production company and a wide variety of clients from cable channels to tourism boards and is loving both her career and the independence working for herself has given her.

Sign up for the event on Facebook and also watch our interview with Jules.

If you want to learn how to make videos like Jules but can't get to Denver next week, we can teach you too!

Character-driven journalism is not new to newspapers, though it once was. It was once called The New Journalism in the 1960s — see Truman Capote or Tom Wolfe. Today it is industry standard. Why not take the Sopranos or Breaking Bad formula and marry it to TV journalism? (How many interviews have you seen in The Sopranos? How many Man on the Street soundbites have you seen in Breaking Bad?)

In a recent study by The Reuters Institute, 40% of Americans no longer watch or read the news at all. They find it too depressing. All doom and gloom.

There is a great deal of concern, well placed, that few people under the age of 30 watch TV news. Viewership of TV news in general has fallen off, so naturally, TV executives across the boards are searching for a solution. How to appeal to a demographic that spends most of their time on social media?
