Last Wednesday we did one our live seminars for our members, and we thought that the information was so important we would share it with everyone.

We’ve been running a series of VJ bootcamps in England and in Belgium, and what made these bootcamps particularly interesting was that we did ALL of them with smart phones.

The results were nothing short of astonishing.

Smart phone video has most definitely arrived, but it has the potential to be much more than just a smaller camera. You have it with you all the time, and you can not only shoot, but also edit, insert graphics, music, text and then share with the rest of the world - all from the phone - it is going to be a real game changer for the industry.

Character-driven journalism is not new to newspapers, though it once was. It was once called The New Journalism in the 1960s — see Truman Capote or Tom Wolfe. Today it is industry standard. How many Man on the Street soundbites have you seen in Breaking Bad?)

In a recent study by The Reuters Institute, 40% of Americans no longer watch or read the news at all. They find it too depressing. All doom and gloom.

There is a great deal of concern, well placed, that few people under the age of 30 watch TV news. Viewership of TV news in general has fallen off, so naturally, TV executives across the boards are searching for a solution. How to appeal to a demographic that spends most of their time on social media?
