Depending on the kind of video you are making there are sometimes when you want to have a nice, fluid dolly tracking shot. Maybe you are making a landscape video or making a nature of wildlife video and you want to make the camera move, but want it to be a perfect fluid shot. This is one of those cinematic shots that you may have always wanted in your work, but couldn't do properly.

To achieve this look you usually need to have a slider rig, and these can be very expensive (even to rent). Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on one you can take a try at building one. YouTube's How To Anything shows us just how to do that -- and only for $8!

You can find all of these supplies at your local hardware store and can make it to the dimensions you need and make it specifically for your camera. If you are a DIY kind of person, this is a project for you!

Character-driven journalism is not new to newspapers, though it once was. It was once called The New Journalism in the 1960s — see Truman Capote or Tom Wolfe. Today it is industry standard. Why not take the Sopranos or Breaking Bad formula and marry it to TV journalism? (How many interviews have you seen in The Sopranos? How to appeal to a demographic that spends most of their time on social media?
