The remarkably talented Nikki Kay is a graduate of one of our bootcamps.

She's also the sports reporter for Spectrum News 1 Los Angeles.

Last week, she went to Dodger Stadium for Opening Day, and she brought along her iPhone - as usual.

Everyone at Spectrum News 1 shoots with an iPhone.

Lots of times, particulary in the time of Covid, we are asked, how do you do a personal story if there is no one there?

Nikki brillianttly answers the question.

She also is bringing exactly the kind of personal authorship we hope to engender by moving from conventional local TV news to an entirely new model.

There is a great deal of concern, well placed, that few people under the age of 30 watch TV news. Viewership of TV news in general has fallen off, so naturally, TV executives across the boards are searching for a solution. How to appeal to a demographic that spends most of their time on social media?
